Older College Student? That’s Okay! Keep Going…
Do you feel like it’s too late to go back to school? Are you afraid to start your college career with people younger than you? You’re in the right place.
“We listen and we don’t judge” Whether you’re just starting or starting over, this blog will inspire you to keep going.
Fear is Our Worst Enemy
Similar to the fear of working out at a new gym; starting your college career can be paralyzing, but we all start somewhere. Don’t forget, no one is paying more attention to you than yourself.
An education is a powerful weapon that no one can take away from you.
I have dropped out and restarted my higher education so many times since graduating high school in 2012, but even as busy as life became, I allowed myself to take one or two classes at a time and which worked for me until where I am now; graduating in three months.
You are enough; you deserve to be in this space as well:
Though the rates of Latinas with degrees has been increasing in the last few years, it is not enough compared to our counterparts.
An education is always a literary weapon no one can take away from you.
A degree will open the doors for higher positions in spaces we deserve to be in.
Time Slows Down For No One
Time is always passing us by, it’s passing as you read this. Wouldn’t you want to get something done now than later?
Next year, you will be a year older, if you work on your degree, you’re still going to be older. So why not work on your education now? Life only gets busier as we get older, with children or work, there will always be an excuse. Rise above the excuses and go for it.
What Will You Do?
It’s time to take matters into your own hands. There’s nothing more chingona than being an educated Latina in society. Time will continue to pass on by; make the most out of it by investing in yourself. If you are a first generation college student, there are hundreds of resources available to guide you through this important life decision. Speak to a college counselor today!
